PANIC AS HON WAMBOKA DELIVERS THE NEWS: BULAMBULI NO LONGER YELLOW.
CHANGE IS CHANGING EVERYONE
BY M. Banks. Frontiers Post
Hon. WAMBOKA JEPHTHER PRINCE, the incoming MP for bulambuli County yesterday walked out of the Bulambuli Electoral Commission stakeholders’ meeting with one clear message:
Bulambuli Is Not an NRM Plantation, It’s a Multiparty Garden”
The meeting, called by the Electoral Commission, was mainly to unveil the new District Election Officer, who will also double as the Returning Officer.
All MP aspirants, their trusted “lieutenants,” and LC5 chairperson hopefuls filled the room—because in politics, no one wants to be told the story second-hand.
But the highlight of the day came when the new Returning Officer, in an innocent attempt to preach unity, suggested that “we all come from the same political orientation,” meaning NRM.
Eh! As Ugandans say, “A word that has no legs should not try to run.”
Hon. Wamboka quickly stood up to set the record straight: Bulambuli is not a political monocrop. It is a garden with all types—FDC, NRM, ANT, NUP independent minds—and even boasts an FDC presidential flag bearer. In short, the political soil here is very fertile and very mixed.
The meeting, which kicked off around 11:00 a.m. (Ugandan time, so you know it was serious), also tackled the ever-thorny issue of election violence—especially the kind that likes to peep through NRM windows every election season.
And this state of affairs resonates with one elder who once said, “If the chicken starts fighting in the morning, don’t expect eggs in the evening.”
